Christian Vieri has backed Romelu Lukaku to dominate the European Championships and finish the tournament as top scorer.

Lukaku gave Inter a huge boost on Wednesday night when he told reporters he would be staying with the Nerazzurri, despite interest from his former club Chelsea.

The 28-year-old can now focus his attention entirely on delivering glory for Belgium, who begin their Euro 2020 campaign against Russia on June 12.

“Lukaku is coming off an exceptional season and he’s always scored lots with Belgium,” former Inter striker Vieri told Gazzetta dello Sport for Thursday’s print edition.

“For me, he’s the favourite to win the Golden Boot at the tournament.”

Lukaku will be pitted against his Inter teammate Christian Eriksen in Group B, after Belgium were drawn alongside Russia, Denmark and Finland.

He scored 24 goals in Serie A as Inter stormed to the Serie A title under Antonio Conte, who now looks set to become Tottenham Hotspur’s new head coach.

Lukaku has scored 59 goals in 91 senior appearances for his country and Roberto Martinez will hope he continues his prolific form with the Red Devils later this month.
