Andrea Ranocchia might well stay at Inter after all, according to a report in the Italian media today.

Tuttosport’s print edition said the Nerazzurri were now likely to offer the defender a new contract, with his current deal due to expire at the end of June.

Inter need a reliable back-up to Stefan de Vrij and Ranocchia would provide exactly that, having filled in impeccably when necessary last season.

His agent Tulio Tinti is also in charge of Simone Inzaghi and it is clear Inter are now on great terms with him, which could facilitate a deal.

Alessandro Bastoni is also managed by Tinti and he signed a new three-year deal with the club last week, and it looks as if Ranocchia could be the next client in line for a renewal.

Inzaghi’s arrival as head coach might well have changed Ranocchia’s destiny, because he was widely expected to leave Inter until recently.
