Ivan Perisic could be destined to leave Inter for good this summer, according to a report in the Italian media today.

Gazzetta dello Sport’s print edition said the Nerazzurri were stalling on the idea of offering Perisic a new contract, with his current deal due to expire in 2022.

Perisic has a strong chance of leaving Inter before next season, and the Croatian midfielder is thinking about a return to the Bundesliga.

The 32-year-old knows Germany’s top flight very well after previously playing there for Borussia Dortmund, Wolfsburg and most recently Bayern Munich.

Inter signed Perisic from Wolfsburg in 2015 and enjoyed four reasonably positive seasons together, before sending him on loan to Bayern when Antonio Conte arrived two summers ago.

Perisic won the treble with the Bavarian giants before returning to Inter for the 2020-21 season, which turned into his greatest in a Nerazzurri shirt after a slow start.

Inter blew their Serie A title rivals away in the second half of the season and Perisic played a key role in their march to the Scudetto, nailing down a spot at right wing-back in Conte’s 3-5-2 system.
