Inter are still keen on a deal for Emerson Royal at Barcelona, according to a report in the Italian media today.

Gazzetta dello Sport’s print edition said the Nerazzurri were strongly interested in the Brazilian full-back, who recently rejoined Barca from Real Betis.

Inter discussed the possibility of signing Emerson during their transfer talks yesterday with Simone Inzaghi, after he was confirmed as their new head coach.

Alessandro Florenzi is becoming a less likely candidate to replace Achraf Hakimi at right wing-back, but Emerson remains a target.

Inter need to finish the transfer window with a profit of around €90-100 million, the Milan-based paper warned, so there isn’t huge room for maneouvre at the moment.

The Nerazzurri also need to reduce their wage bill, which could lead to difficult decisions regarding Christian Eriksen.

Eriksen could receive interest from the Premier League and Inter will need to be patient before sorting the Dane’s future.
