Simone Inzaghi is convinced Inter can remain an elite club in Europe under his guidance, according to a report in the Italian media today.

Tuttosport’s print edition said Inzaghi had proven he fully believed in the Nerazzurri’s project by agreeing to not have a bonus in his contract for UEFA Champions League qualification.

This should be the norm for a team that finished second and then first under Antonio Conte in Serie A, but there is no such clause in Inzaghi’s two-year deal.

Inzaghi is very enthusiastic to begin life at Inter, where he has replaced Conte as head coach, after visiting the club’s training facilities for the first time yesterday.

Inter’s new boss visited Appiano Gentile with his staff and then met Piero Ausilio and Dario Baccin for discussions about the transfer market.

Inzaghi then met Steven Zhang and Alessandro Antonello for dinner in the evening, along with the rest of the club’s directors.
