The chance to play in the UEFA Champions League with Inter could be what makes Emerson Palmieri choose the Nerazzurri over Napoli, according to a report in the Italian Media today.

Inter and Napoli have been in a well-publicised race to sign Chelsea left-back Emerson Palmieri for the past couple of weeks, but according to a study from Sportitalia, Inter have the upper hand.

Inter are waiting for the sales of Achraf Hakimi and Joao Mario to be finalised before they make a direct offer for the Italian left-back, because Chelsea’s asking price of €15 million plus bonuses is too high unless Inter raise some money.

By winning the Serie A title, Inter automatically qualified for the UEFA Champions League group stages, and they will be a seeded team.

Napoli on the other hand missed out on Champions League football on the final day of the season when they drew to Hellas Verona, meaning they are not as attractive for Emerson Palmieri.
