Inter’s Stefano Sensi will not return to Italy’s pre-tournament training group after he suffered a muscle injury, according to reports in the Italian media today.

As has been reported by Sky Sports today, Stefano Sensi will have no more involvement with the Azzurri squad at all. The Inter midfielder picked up a muscle injury in training before the 4-0 international friendly win over the Czech Republic on Friday night, which means he will miss the entire tournament.

Many fans and pundits were surprised when Roberto Mancini chose the notoriously injury-prone Stefano Sensi for his squad over the in-form Matteo Pessina from Atalanta.

They were unfortunately proved right when Stefano Sensi picked up his injury and was replaced in the squad by Matteo Pessina.

It is far from ideal tournament preparation when a player, regardless of how key they are to the team, get injured and have to be replaced at short notice.
