Inter legend Maicon Douglas has revealed that his first Serie A title with Inter remains his favourite, according to a broadcast report in the Italian media today.

During an interview with Inter TV recently, Maicon Douglas reiterated that despite the 2009/10 Scudetto being a more memorable achievement, his victory in 2006 remains his favourite.

This is interesting because that particular title is viewed by many as being a much lesser achievement because of the climate of Italian football at the time. Juventus had just been relegated to Serie B and AC Milan had been handed an 18 point deduction before the campaign as a result of the Calciopoli scandal.

“My first Scudetto must remain first. Even if they said it was a fake Scudetto because Juventus were in Serie B and Milan started with a penalty of 18 points. , but that remains first and that of 2009/2010 second.”

Maicon Douglas went on to express his unhappiness at how long it has taken Inter to win another Scudetto following his 2009/20 triumph under Jose Mourinho, which was a campaign that also saw the Nerazzurri win the UEFA Champions League after a Diego Milito brace in the final.

“There is a long time left for the last one and I am sorry because this club deserves to win every year. I want to congratulate everyone on the Scudetto they won in the season just ended.”
