Inter have ‘a thorny issue’ on their hands with Radja Nainggolan, according to a report in the Italian media today.

Corriere dello Sport’s print edition said the Nerazzurri were struggling to make progress in their talks with Cagliari over the midfielder, who wants to rejoin the Rossoblu.

Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio met Cagliari counterpart Stefano Capozucca recently, where they discussed including Nahitan Nandez in the deal as a makeweight.

However, the Uruguay international is not considered a priority by Inter because they would have to offer money to sign him, or work on a loan deal with no obligation to buy.

Nainggolan wants to receive a payoff from Inter if and when he agrees to mutually terminate his contract, the Rome-based paper added.

However, Inter president Steven Zhang is adamant that they will not grant this request, which is creating a problem for Cagliari who can’t offer Nainggolan the same salary.
