Danilo D’Ambrosio’s adventure at Inter will continue for one more season, according to a leading Italian broadcaster today.

Sky Sport Italia (via FcInter1908.it) said the Nerazzurri had agreed a one-year deal with the defender, who was due to become a free agent on July 1.

D’Ambrosio’s renewal is yet to be announced but the agreement is in place, after an intervention from Inter’s new boss Simone Inzaghi.

Inzaghi was keen to keep hold of D’Ambrosio, who had previously been linked with Lazio, and his input has helped arrange the new deal.

D’Ambrosio was a bit-part player for Inter last season, but the 32-year-old always delivered when called upon and scored three goals in 24 appearances.

He was linked in recent weeks with AC Milan, Napoli, Lazio and Fiorentina among others, but it seems he will continue with Inter until the end of the 2021-22 season.

Inzaghi was officially confirmed as Inter’s new head coach last Thursday and his squad is slowly beginning to take shape.
