Inter will begin life under Simone Inzaghi with a heavily depleted squad, a report in the Italian media highlighted today.

Gazzetta dello Sport’s print edition said the Nerazzurri had nine players involved at Euro 2020 and would therefore start pre-season later than their teammates.

Inter’s nine-man contingent does not include Stefano Sensi, who is almost certain to miss out on a place in the Italy squad after he suffered another muscular injury.

It also does not consider Joao Mario, who is very close to signing permanently fot Sporting CP, but it does involve Valentino Lazaro as he returns from a loan spell at Borussia Monchengladbach.

Juventus have 12 players involved at this summer’s European Championships, the report added, while Atalanta have nine and Napoli have eight.

Max Allegri, Gian Piero Gasperini and Luciano Spalletti will therefore have similar problems to Inzaghi as Inter’s rivals prepare their assault on the 2021-22 Serie A title.
