Inter will secure a deal to sell Joao Mario to Sporting CP today, according to a report in the Portuguese media.

Record (via FcInter1908.it) said Inter’s sporting director Piero Ausilio would hold ‘decisive talks’ with the midfielder’s agent Federico Pastorello.

The meeting will help the parties arrange the last few details of the deal so that Joao Mario’s permanent return to Sporting CP can become reality.

Inter want €8 million to sell the 28-year-old, but Sporting CP will only agree to that fee if they can spread the payment across several installments.

The Liga NOS champions have offered to pay €7 million in a quicker period, so Inter can choose whether to stay firm on their asking price or make a small concession.

There is only a small distance between the clubs’ positions, therefore, so it should not be difficult for Pastorello to mediate between them and finalise a deal.

Joao Mario is due to return to Lisbon at the end of this week and he hopes an agreement will be in place by then.
