Inter may well have found a thrifty solution to the problem of backing up Romelu Lukaku in the form of Lazio’s Felipe Caicedo.
Italian broadcaster SportMediaset are reporting that Inter are preparing an offer for Lazio striker Felipe Caicedo as a low-cost option to back up the club’s Belgian talisman Romelu Lukaku.
Given the well-known financial situation at Inter, value for money is a major priority when approaching the transfer market.
One of the key transfer issues for Inter going forward is backing up Lukaku – the 28-year-old scored thirtyu goals in all competitions for Inter last season and has no real direct replacement among first-team squad members.
As such, Inter are on the hunt for a player with similar attributes to Lukaku who Simone Inzaghi can rely on when Lukaku is injured or needs a rest.
In Caicdeo Inter may have identified a player who can replicate Lukaku’s role in Inzaghi’s system, has worked with the manager for several seasons at Lazio, and should cost less than other options given his age and contract situation.
