Long-time Inter target Emerson Palmieri has revealed that Italian national team head coach Roberto Mancini has advised him to consider moving away from current club Chelsea for the sake of his career progression.

In an interview with the English outlet Telegraph, Palmieri has revealed the content of conversations with Mancini, formerly of Inter and Manchester City among other clubs.

Emerson states: “It showed that he cares about me. He wants to see me do well, so he told me that it might be better for me to join another ambitious club where I could play as much as possible and improve even more.”

He goes on to explain that “we all know that sometimes football depends on many factors,” intimating the fact that regardless of his wishes a transfer may not be easy.

Nevertheless, this candid revelation of the 26-year-old Italian’s feelings could be good news for Inter, as it shows that he will not be happy to accept a backup role at Chelsea if manager Thomas Tuchel does not wish to give him more responsibilities with the team.

The Brazilian-born Italian international has enjoyed spells and Santos, Palermo, and Roma before joining Chelsea where he featured somewhat regularly under Italian tacticians Antonio Conte and Maurizio Sarri but has become a bit-part player under Tuchel and former boss Frank Lampard.
