With talk of the need for a backup striker for Belgian Romelu Lukaku, Lazio attacker Felipe Caicedo has emerged as an option.
Today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport report that new Inter head coach is considering a move for the 32-year-old Ecuadorian international, a player whom he regularly trusted at Lazio.
Gazzetta dello Sport highlight that “for characteristics, Caicedo would be a perfect deputy for Lukaku – left-footed, strong in holdup play and ball progression, and willing to sacrifice for the team.”
Additionally, given that the Ecuadorian is 32 years old and has 12 months left on his current deal, Lazio may wish to cash in on him, another key aspect to his situation.
Caicedo has made 133 appearances and scored 33 goals for Lazio under Inzaghi and has formed a strong relationship with the Italian coach; he may be a convenient fit at Inter as he would already understand the tactical ideas preferred by the club’s new head coach.
