Paris Saint-Germain have been stepping up their pursuit of Inter wingback Achraf Hakimi, and may have fresh hope as Inter have identified a potential replacement who would allow them to let go of the Moroccan international.

French media outlet le 10 Sport are reporting that PSG sporting director has renewed confidence that an agreement can be reached over the transfer of Hakimi, as Inter have begun talks with Barcelona over potentially signing Emerson Royal for next season.

Should Emerson be brought in at the Giuseppe Meazza, he will be able to fill a similar tactical role in the Inter squad, meaning that Inter would be able to manage without the Morrocan.

However, Barcelona are said to be reticent to part with Emerson, so the matter is not settled just yet by any means.

The Catalan club have extended the Brazilian’s contract by two years to 2026, signalling that they still see him being in their plans and that he will not be easy for Inter to sign.
