Inter midfielder Arturo Vidal has rejected the offer of Liga MX Club Club America to sign him for next season.

Today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport report that the Chilean midfielder has turned down the Mexican club’s initial approach, preferring to stay in Milan for the moment.

Vidal was signed by Inter in the summer of 2020 and played an important role in bringing the Scudetto to the Giuseppe Meazza, but he is no longer wanted by the Nerazurri due to his €6 million annual salary.

The Chilean was an arrival requested by then-Inter coach Antonio Conte, as the latter believed that his experience would be the quality needed to strengthen his squad into title-winners.

Vidal had previously won the Scudetto with Juventus four times under Conte and Max Allegri before enjoying spells with Bayern Munich and Barcelona.

Possibly the most significant contribution of the Chilen at Inter was the opening goal against former club Juventus in the first meeting against his former club, but his thirty appearances and two goals in all competition last season are not seen as sufficient justification to keep the player on at high wages for the financially-struggling Nerazzurri.

There are many clubs reportedly interested in the Chilean’s signature, but the size of his wages are thought to be a major obstacle to any deal.
