Ashley Young is considering a contract extension at Inter, leaving the possibility of a return to his boyhood club Watford in doubt.

English media outlet The Watford Observer report that the Englishman’s move to the newly-promoted Hornets, once thought to be a certainty, is in increasing doubt as he contemplates a new offer to stay on at the Giuseppe Meazza for another season.

Initially, the 35-year-old did not expect to be offered an extension at Inter so a return to his former club seemed like a logical destination especially with the team back in the Premier League.

However, with the arrival of new head coach Simone Inzaghi it has begun to look as though Young could be in the manager’s plans for the forthcoming season, and an offer for a renewal was made by the club.

Young has expressed a desire to re-join the Hornets in the past but has also enjoyed his time in Lombardy, so his decision will not be an easy one to make.

“I have had an unbelievable time at Inter,” the Englishmen said, “if there is something to be done I’m sure a deal can be sorted out.”
