Chelsea have not overtaken Paris Saint-Germain as favourites for the signature of Inter wingback Achraf Hakimi, but may have a plan to do so.

Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia reported earlier tonight that Chelsea are exploring the possibility of sending Emerson Palmieri or Andreas Christensen to Inter as part of a deal for the Moroccan in order to persuade the Nerazzurri to sell.

As of yet no offers have been submitted from any interested clubs which come close to Inter’s €80 million valuation, but it could be the case that Inter’s interest in Palmieri and Christensen would lead the Italian club to let Hakimi go in a player-plus-cash exchange.

Palmieri is a player who Inter have been monitoring for some time, and if Chelsea were to offer him as part of a deal at a valuation that Inter are happy with it would make the situation more favourable for the Blues.

Christensen is another player who Inter have been credited with an interest in in the past, and Inter could consider him as able backup to their starting back three which would allow for the sale of a defender already at the club not in the club’s plans and lead to an improvement of the squad.

While Inter are thought to need to sell a player with a high value as part of their financial plan they will still want to make a profit and stick to their valuation.

However, the inclusion of either of these two players would potentially make an offer from Chelsea more valuable to Inter on a financial level.
