Young Inter defender Lorenzo Pirola is set to extend his loan at Monza, following Inter goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio’s decision to also stay on at the club.

Today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport are reporting that the signature to formalize the deal is the only thing left for Pirola to remain at the Serie B club next season.

Di Gregorio has already finalized his loan extension and will be in between the sticks for Monza next season as well.

The 19-year-old Pirola is considered to be an excellent prospect at center-back, and his continued development in an environment in which he is comfortable at Monza will be good news to Nerazzurri supporters.

Di Gregorio, aged 23, will hope to replicate his form from last season where he was first choice at Monza as the club narrowly missed out on promotion to Serie A.

Both Inter youngsters could have key roles to play in the chase for promotion next season and will hope to catch the eye of current Inter manager Simone Inzaghi as well.
