Crotone president Gianni Vrenna has praised goalkeeper Alex Cordaz’ qualities ahead of his move to Inter.

In an interview published in today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, Vrenna explained that he feels a great fondness for the player’s character and especially his ability to help with the cohesion of the team in then locker room.

The president of the Calabrian club spoke in glowing terms of the veteran goalkeeper’s personality, and of the experiences he has had dealing with the now-Inter shotstopper.

Vrenna’s remarks highlight the importance of a player’s behind-the-scenes influence, and not just the qualities that they bring on the pitch.

“For Cordaz, Inter is a very important opportunity,” he said, “For me, he is like a son.”

This positive appraisal of Cordaz’s character will be well-received by Inter supporters anxious about the club’s potentially tumultuous summer.

With the departure of former head coach Antonio Conte and the likelihood that at least one important player will depart, it is probable that these qualities from Cordaz will be appreciated within the Nerazzurri.

Vrenna explained:

“We will have to replace him between the posts, but more importantly we will have to look for someone who will replace him in the locker room and in team relations.”

“He is the glue for everyone, he never holds back and he always puts himself out there.”
