Fiorentina’s sporting director Joe Barone has spoken about the future of La Viola defender Nikola Milenkovic, reportedly a player whose situation Inter are monitoring.

Barone spoke to Fiorentina supporters in a live Q&A on the club’s official Instagram account, and the topic of Milenkovic came up.

Barone stressed that the club would like to keep hold of the player and offer a contract extension, but also added that they might be willing to listen to offers for his signature.

The Serbian has impressed in the heart of Fiorentina’s defense and has attracted interest from clubs across Europe, with the Nerazzurri among the clubs considering making an offer for his services, although no concrete movement has been reported..

The 23-year-old’s contract with the Tuscan club runs until the end of June 2022, but the club are working towards a renewal.

Milenkovic has made 127 appearances for Fiorentina across all competitions in which he has scored eleven goals.

Barone explained: “[Milenkovic] is an important player for us, he has played very well and still has one year left on his contract. Let’s see what the future holds.”

“We hope that we can renew, but if requests come in from teams that Milenkovic wants to go to, we will avaluate them together.”
