Inter will attempt to bring Lazio striker Felipe Caicedo to the Giuseppe Meazza to deputize for Romelu Lukaku, according to a report.

Italian media outlet L’Interista are claiming that Inter are determined to bring the 32-year-old Ecuadorian to the club to link up with former coach Simone Inzaghi.

One major void in the Nerazzurri’s current squad is for a player who can play as backup to Lukaku when the Belgian is injured or needs a rest.

It is thought that the manager likes the idea of linking up with Caicedo, as he had success working with the player at previous club Lazio.

Caicedo would take little time to adjust to life at Inter, it is thought, because he already understands Inzaghi’s methods and expectations.

The Ecuadorian would also not command a large fee due to his age and the fact that his contract only has one year left on it, a big bonus given the Nerazzurri’s determination to approach the market with financial discipline in mind.

Caicedo scored nine goals in thirty appearances for Lazio in all competition.
