Young Italy international and Sassuolo player Giacomo Raspadori has emerged as the favourite to replace Lautaro Martinez should he leave Inter, according to reports in the Italian media.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who claim that there are numerous factors which could make a deal happen.

Martinez is not a player who Inter are thought to be trying to sell currently, but it is known that the Nerazzurri must sell at least on major squad member this summer.

Raspadori showed promise in his last season in Serie A, so much so that the 21-year-old earned a call-up to the Italian national team ahead of the Azzurri’s participation in this summer’s Euros.

Another factor which could make Raspadori’s sale to Inter more likely is the excellent relationship that the Nerazzurri have with his current club Sassuolo.

Should Raspadori be Martinez’s successor, it is expected that the future of Chilean international Alexis Sanchez would become especially important.

Incoming Nerazzurri head coach Simone Inzaghi may not seek to put his full trust in the young Raspadori as his main attacking option and so would likely rely on the contributions of the Chilean in the short term.
