Lautaro Martinez is reportedly hesitating on renewing his contract with Inter, but the reason currently has to do with interest from Atletico Madrid rather than Barcelona.

This was revealed by Mundo Deportivo journalist Francesc Aguilar in a tweet earlier today, in which the journalist claimed that the offer currently being considered by Martinez is from Atletico.

Aguillar claims that Martinez is wanted by his compatriot Diego Simeone, manager of Atletico.

It is this temptation of linking up with the Argentine boss in the Spanish capital which is causing the 23-year-old to have second thoughts about extending his deal with Inter, according to Aguilar.

It was not previously thought that Inter were seriously considering the sale of Martinez, but recent events have led to the sense that his departure could happen during the summer.

It is unknown how this would affect other transfer activities, as the prevailing thought had been that Achraf Hakimi would be the major exit from the Giuseppe Meazza rather than Martinez.

The tweet reads: “Lautaro Martinez continues to cause problems for Inter with his renewal.

“They say he is asking for more money, yes, but also that he has another interesting offer, which is not from Barca as some insist but rather from Atletico Madrid. His arrival is a clear objective of Cholo Simeone.”
