Atletico Madrid will not be able to finance a deal for Inter’s Lautaro Martinez this summer, according to a report in the Spanish media today.

As has been reported by Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, the asking price of €90 million is simply too much for the Rojiblancos to stump up this summer.

Diego Simeone is a huge fan of Lautaro Martinez and tried to sign him from Racing in 2018, but the Argentina striker chose the Nerazzurri instead.

It is believed that whilst Simone Inzaghi expects to be keeping Lautaro Martinez this summer, the club would be prepared to sell if their asking price was met. It’s a price that Atletico Madrid cannot justify paying given the effect the pandemic has had on club finances.

Fellow La Liga sides Real Madrid and Barcelona still remain interested in the forward. Barcelona could look to use Emerson Royal as part of a deal, as he is a player that interests Inter.
