Sampdoria coach Claudio Ranieri has been praising Inter striker Romelu Lukaku ahead of the European Championship this summer, according to a report in the Italian media today.

Whilst writing in his column for La Gazzetta dello Sport, Claudio Ranieri analysed the entire Belgium squad who are looking to finally capitalise on their golden generation and win a major tournament. Romelu Lukaku will likey be their key player if they do manage to achieve something special.

Whilst writing about Romelu Lukaku, Claudio Ranieri referenced his physicality and the role Antonio Conte played in his development after the big-money move from Manchester United.

“Two years in Italy have improved him. The trust and responsibility that Antonio Conte gave him have strengthened him internally. He is a tank, he scores naturally, he does not miss a game.”

The coach famously won the Premier League title with Leicester City after they were almost relegated the season before. He discussed the wide range of quality in the Belgium squad such as Kevin de Bruyne, Eden Hazard, and Youri Tielemans.

Claudio Ranieri had a short spell as Inter coach between 2011 and 2012.
