Fabrizio Ravanelli has been discussing Antonio Conte’s time as the Inter boss and where it went wrong so quickly, during an Italian broadcast report.
Whilst analysing Italy’s Friday night win over Turkey last night in the Sky Sports TV studio, Fabrizio Ravanelli pin-pointed which realisation he thinks made Antonio Conte walk away from Inter.
“He realized that the club could not give him guarantees to win the Champions League and he absolutely wants to win that cup because he is accused of being a coach who is not able to excel in Europe.”
Fabrizio Ravanelli also suggested that no other coach could have won the 2020/21 Scudetto with Inter other than Antonio Conte.
“I don’t know if Inter would have triumphed anyway with other coaches.”
This was predominantly down to Antonio Conte’s ability to bounce back from disappointment. In this case, it was the failure to get out of the UEFA Champions League group stage. It was a tough group that contained Real Madrid, Borussia Monchengladbach, and Shakhtar Donestsk.
“After leaving the Champions League he found the strength to win the championship and I think this is one of his strengths, the ability to create an enemy to fight in the locker room.”
Antonio Conte left Inter when it became clear that the club needed to raise €80 million from player sales and reduce the wage budget by 15% ahead of the new Serie A campaign. The coach was replaced by Simone Inzaghi.
