Inter’s negotiations with Sporting Lisbon have slowed down meaning Joao Mario could move elsewhere this summer, according to a report in the Portuguese media today.

As has been reported by Record this morning, Sporting Lisbon have stopped communicating so frequently with Inter over the purchase of Joao Mario, who spent the 2020/21 season on loan at the Portuguese side.

The two clubs were slightly apart in their valuations of the player but it seemed a deal would be reached shortly. The player definitely wants to stay with Sporting Lisbon and Inter definitely want to sell the player as soon as possible.

Suddenly, a host of other clubs could look to hijack the deal because they know that Joao Mario wants to have a full pre-season with whoever his new club may prove to be.

Formal approaches from clubs such as Villarreal, Nice, Spartak Moscow, and Besiktas could make the player move elsewhere.
