Inter midfielder Nicolo Barella has been having his performance for Gli Azzurri rated by various Italian newspapers after the 3-0 win over Turkey on Friday night at the Stadio Olimpico.

The highest rating that Nicolo Barella received was a 7 out of 10 from Corriere dello Sport. They referenced the slightly more defensive role he played during the Euro 2020 Group A opener, always making sure that AC Milan attacker Hakan Calhanoglu had no space to be creative.

From La Gazzetta dello Sport and Tuttosport, the performance of Nicolo Barella was not quite worth so much praise. They both opted for a 6.5 out of 10 rating for the 24-year-old.

Despite the incredibly attacking nature of Italy’s performance against Turkey, Nicolo Barella seemed to operate in a more defensive capacity than he normally would for the Nerazzurri.

He and Jorginho set the pace and started the attacks for Roberto Mancini’s side, with Sassuolo midfielder Manuel Locatelli breaking forward most regularly from the midfield three.
