A member of Inter’s medical staff has revealed that the club had no suspicions that Christian Eriksen had any medical issues heading into Euro 2020, according to a report in the English media today.

Inter’s Chief Medical Doctor Piero Volpi told the Associated Press that neither Inter nor Christian Eriksen’s old club Tottenham Hotpsur had ever seen anything in his records to suggest he was liable to this kind of incident.

“In the next few days he will be subjected to in-depth examinations. The important thing is that he is well, but there had never been any episode that, even remotely, he had hinted at a problem, neither when he was at Tottenham nor at Inter. In Italy, the controls are very strict.”

Christian Eriksen collapsed on the pitch during Denmark’s opening game of Euro 2020. He was given immediate medical attention on the pitch before being taken to the hospital for further examinations. The Danish FA confirmed his status as stable this morning in a statement on social media.

They also confirmed that he has been in contact with his teammates to assure them of his wellbeing. The teams decided to continue the match on the same evening. Finland went on to win 1-0.
