Cagliari sporting director Stefano Capozucca has suggested that he believes that there is a possibility that Inter target Nahitan Nandez could leave the club.

Speaking to Cagliari-based newspaper L’Unione Sarda today, Capozucca gave his thoughts on the club’s transfer market, and he suggested that a player of Nandez’s quality deserved to play at “a top club”, as well as outlining his ambition to bring Inter’s Radja Nainggoland to the Rossoblu permanently.

Nandez is known to have been a target for the Nerazzurri for several windows, but in the past weeks it is thought that negotiations between the two clubs over the player’s sale have not progressed very far due to Inter’s failure to meet Cagliar’s financial demands.

However, the Cagliari sporting director is aware that the Uruguayan could be hard for his club to keep hold of for long.

Capozucca also explained that he was working to ensure that Nainggolan is made a Cagliari player permanently very soon.

The Belgian midfielder joined Cagliari on loan during the second half of last season, having not been a part of then-Inter boss Antonio Conte’s plans.

Capozucca explained to the paper:

“The squad are all important, some players are especially fundamental. [Nandez] is one of those. From an outside perspective he did very well. I would hate to lose him, but at the same time he deserves a top club.”

“Leeds United have not made an offer for him. Inter have made inquiries for the player but there are also some foreign clubs interested – however, nothing concrete.”

He continued: “Nainggloan? He’s already training and I hope for him to be a full Cagliari player by August 22, the beginning of next season. I would like to confirm him before the summer break.”

On former Inter and current Cagliari defender Diego Godin, Capozucca had this to say:

“After last season, the president has asked me to review costs and downsizing. There is no question that we like the player, but Cagliari cannot have a player who makes other signings impossible. We are talking with his representatives”
