Inter could receive a setback in their pursuit of Lazio defender Stefan Radu with the Biancocelesti aiming to extent that player’s stay in Rome, according to reports.
Today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport are reporting that Lazio are still attempting to persuade the 34-year-old to renew his contract with the club, which expires on June 30 as it stands.
Should the Romanian decline, he would be a very attractive option for the Nerazzurri, as he could be signed without a transfer fee and could be offered a short-term deal, most likely a one-year contract with the option of a further year.
Radu’s qualities are appreciated by Inter manager Simone Inzaghi from the pair’s time together at Lazio, and he would not take long to adjust to the coach’s tactical system.
Inter are looking for a backup to Alessandro Bastoni on the left side of the back three and Radu could be a viable option.
Federico Dimarco, another option already in the squad, is expected to be sold in the summer as there are offers for him and the Nerazzurri need to generate capital gains through player sales.
