Chelsea remain one of the clubs leading the race for the signature of Inter wing-back Achraf Hakimi, and a new development could see them gain an advantage over main rivals Paris Saint-Germain as they vie to sign the Moroccan.

According to today’s print edition of Italian newspaper Libero, Chelsea are offering Spanish wing-back Marcos Alonso as part of the deal, and his inclusion as part of a cash-plus-player offer could persuade the Nerazzurri to allow Hakimi to depart for Stamford Bridge.

As it stands, both Chelsea and PSG have submitted €60 million offers for Hakimi, but this is far below Inter’s valuation for the 22-year-old.

Inter are thought to have preferred cash-only deals to those which include players coming the other way, but are thought to consider Alonso differently.

The 30-year-old Spaniard is a major target for Inter on the left side of the team, and they are said to be tempted by an offer which includes him.

Should Inter be interested in such a deal, Chelsea would become the team best placed to sign Hakimi from Inter over PSG.
