Inter’s Christian Eriksen is set to receive an emotional tribute from Denmark supporters during Denmark’s EURO 2020 match against Belgium on Thursday.

Today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport report that Danish supporters plan to mark the tenth minute of the match, corresponding to the 29-year-old’s Number 10 shirt.

It is hoped that the player will be able to attend the match at the Parken in Copenhagen should he be discharged from hospital in time, although that is considered to be unlikely right now.

However, whether or not the player is able to attend in person to receive his tribute, he will undoubtedly be aware of it and will understand the meaning behind it.

The footballing world was shocked by the Dane’s unexpected collapse during Denmark’s EURO 2020 opener against Finland on Saturday, with much relief that his condition has stabilized.

There is, however, much uncertainty about the player’s immediate future in football, although it is clear from this tribute that he is still much-loved by the footballing community no matter the eventual outcome.
