Ashley Young will depart from the Giuseppe Meazza this summer with Premier League club Aston Villa his chosen destination, according to reports.

This is the claim of UK tabloid the Mirror, who report that the Englishman has decided on the Birmingham-based club ahead of Premier League rivals Burnley and Watford.

Young’s contract with the Nerazzurri is set to expire at the end of the month, with the club having offered him a one-year extension on his deal.

However, the 35-year-old looks set to reject the offer and return to the Premier League after joining the current Serie A champions from Manchester United in January of 2020.

Young is thought to have been in advanced talks with Burnley to sign with the club, but has chosen Aston Villa after they moved for him late.

The Englishman would be returning to a club where he previously made 193 appearances and scored 39 goals in four and a half seasons betwen 2007 and 2011.

He is said to be impressed by the ambitious sporting project at Villa Park under manager Dean Smith.
