Inter are considering PSV right-back Denzel Dumfries as a target to replace Achraf Hakimi should the Moroccan depart in the summer.

This according to the online version of Italian news outlet La Repubblica who reports that new Inter manager Simone Inzaghi is being consulted as to the suitability of the 25-year-old Dutchman for his tactical system.

If Achraf Hakimi should leave in the summer with Chelsea and PSG heavily interested, he would need to be replaced with a player with similar characteristics in Inzaghi’s squad.

Dumfries’s name is added to the list of possible candidates, with the player’s contract with his current club expiring in 2023.

Dumfries joins Barcelona’s Emerson Royal and Lazio’s Manuel Lazzari among possible targets that the Nerazzuri could use to fill the void left by Hakimi’s departure, with all three right-sided players possessing similar qualities.

However, Emerson could prove difficult to sign from Barcelona, while Inzaghi is said not to be keen on bringing Lazzari with him from his former club, who would be reluctant to sell after his somewhat acrimonious departure for Inter.

Meanwhile, it is thought that should Inter make a fair offer to PSV for Dumfries the club would accept, and there would be no serious obstacles.
