Inter defender Andrea Ranocchia looks set to accept the one-year contract extension offered by Inter.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that in a meeting yesterday, Inter sporting director formally made the proposal to the Italian’s agent Tullio Tinti.

Ranocchia’s contract expires on June 30, but Inter want to keep the player for another season and made an offer to have him stay on at the club for one more year, with an option for Inter to extend a further season.

The 33-year-old also received a contract offer from Spain, but is thought to prefer to stay in Milan, and is happy to renew with the Nerazzurri,

Ranocchia has made 216 appearances with the Nerazzurri since joining from Genoa in 2012.

Ranocchia’s teammate Ashley Young, meanwhile, looks set to reject an offer from Inter, and will instead return to England on a free transfer.
