Inter’s Ashley Young is close to deciding to reject Inter’s offer of a one-year contract extension and instead move to an English club.
Today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport report that the Englishman, whose contract expires on June 30, will seek a move to the Premier League so that his family can return to England.
The 35-year-old, who joined Inter from Manchester United in January 2020, was offered a one-year extension on his deal by the Nerazzurri, with new coach Simone Inzaghi said to admire the player.
However, while the player has enjoyed his time in Milan, including winning the scudetto last year with Inter, his family are thought to be eager to return to their home country.
Young’s departure would likely mean that Inter will step up their plans to recruit at least one left-sided player for Inzaghi’s squad, although this will depend on the future of Ivan Perisic and on the club making sales this summer.
