Legendary former Inter left-back Anreas Brehme has posted a classic photograph of himself and Netherlands captain Ruud Gullit shaking hands before a EURO 1992 group stage match between the Netherlands and Germany.
At the time of the tournament, Brehme and Gullit were derby rivals as well, with the Dutchman starring for the Rossoneri and the German coming off the back of the final season of his brilliant four-year tenure with the Nerazzurri.
The photo shows the lineage that players from both sides of the Milan divide are stepping into when they represent their countries at this summer’s Euros.
