Denmark head coach Kasper Hjulmand has extended his supported for the Danes’ stricken captain, Nerazzurri midfielder Christian Eriksen on behalf of the national team.

Speaking to Danish broadcaster Viaplay after Denmark’s 1-2 loss against Belgium, as reported by Italian news outlet FCInterNews, the Danish coach talked about the importance of supporting the player after his cardiac arrest on Saturday.

For Hjulmand, the results on the pitch are less important than ensuring that the Danish playmaker is healthy and recovers well, and in this spirit he made sure that the 29-year-old knows that the team is like a family for him, and that he can rely on their support.

This is a theme which will resonate with the Nerazzurri players and fans, who are eager to support the Dane and ensure that he knows that he is supported through his recovery, and that the admiration and fondness for him extends beyond the pitch.

Hjulmand explained:

“We are in contact with Christian, happy that he is still here with us, which is the most important thing. Christian is going through a lot, these are difficult days and we don’t know what to expect.”

He stressed: “The only thing we can say for sure is that we are here for him, he has another family. We will always help him and his family. It means a lot for us to see him smile again.”
