Inter could make a move for Chelsea midfielder Mateo Kovacic this summer as they look to widen their options in midfield, according to a report in the English print media today.

As has been reported by The Mirror in England today, Inter may make a return for Mateo Kovacic, the Croatian midfielder that they sold to Real Madrid in 2015.

Inter did not want to sell Mateo Kovacic in 2015 but were forced to because of Financial Fair Play regulations. The fee paid by Real Madrid was €29 million.

The pursuit of the Chelsea midfielder could be related to the possibility that Christian Eriksen will not play for the club again.

Christian Eriksen collapsed on the pitch during his countries opening Euro 2020 game against Finland in Copenhagen. He was given immediate medical attention on the pitch, including CPR.

He was then taken to the hospital for further examinations where UEFA and the Danish Football Association confirmed that was stable and talking. The game was resumed and Finland went on to win the match 1-0 thanks to a second-half goal.
