Inter could be beaten to the signing of Chelsea’s Davide Zappacosta this summer by Fiorentina, according to a report in the Italian media today.

As has been recorded by Sky Sport, La Viola are interested in bringing the Italian right-back to Florence despite Inter’s interest in the player.

Davide Zappacosta has a contract with Chelsea that runs out in 2022 so a deal would be quite cheap. He is also not in the Chelsea project at all, as shown by spending the 2020/21 season on loan at Genoa.

Fiorentina believes if they act quick enough they can beat Inter to the player, even though he would likely earn more money with the Nerazzurri should he go there.

La Viola may not have the option to act quickly though because until they find a Gennaro Gattuso replacement, they will not be signing any new players. The manager left after just 22 days in charge.
