Inter defender Alessandro Bastoni has been speaking to the press after he made his major tournament debut for Italy against Wales on Sunday evening.

Chatting with Rai Sport immediately after the game, Alessandro Bastoni explained how proud he is to have won the Scudetto with Inter and then followed it up with an appearance in a major international tournament with his national team in the 1-0 win over Wales.

It was put to Alessandro Bastoni that Giorgio Chiellini could steal keep his place in the team for the round of 16 providing he is fit, but the Inter man did not seem too worried about the prospect. At 22-years-old, the Inter man knows he has time on his side.

“I’ve always waited for my moment and I try to take the opportunity as best I can. In the meantime, I use it to steal secrets from people who have won 10 consecutive years, so it’s very nice for me to compare myself with players of this calibre.”

When asked about winning the title with Inter so soon before this next huge career achievement, Alessandro Bastoni explained how just two years ago he was not sure how his career would pan out. He was on loan at Parma and not showing too many signs of breaking into Inter’s starting eleven.

“It’s a dream. Just two years ago I was in Parma and I didn’t know how my career would go. I’m very happy, I’m enjoying this experience to the fullest and we hope to get as far as possible.”
