Ex-Inter man Fulvio Collovati has bestowed current Inter midfielder Nicolo Barella with a very high honour whilst reporting on Euro 2020 for the Italian broadcast media.
Whilst on-air with Rai 2 yesterday afternoon, Fulvio Collovati showed just how much of a fan he is of Inter and Italy midfielder Nicolo Barella.
The Sardinian has received wide acclaim from many in football for his performances both this season for Inter and for Italy at the European Championships so far. His performances in the midfield have been compared to those of N’Golo Kante, who of course recently won the UEFA Champions League with Chelsea.
“Barella is the best midfielder in Europe. Locatelli is emerging and besides Juve everyone wants him. Then Verratti and Jorginho which has just won the Champions League.”
Fulvio Collovati praised the entirety of Italy’s midfield after they swept both Turkey and Switzerland aside in the opening two matchdays with 3-0 wins at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.
He went on to suggest that the only country who has a midfield that can compare with Italy’s is France, as they have the likes of N’Golo Kante and Paul Pogba.
“Perhaps the only team that can compete in midfield is France, which has Kanté, Pogba,and Rabiot.”
