Hakan Calhanoglu will join Inter from city rivals AC Milan soon, with the move set to happen barring major setbacks.

This is according to the player’s father, speaking to Yakup Cinar, a journalist for Turkish news outlet Fanatik.

Inter have been monitoring the situation of Calhanoglu with the 27-year-old’s contract with Milan set to expire at the end of the month and the player reportedly unable to reach an agreement for a new contract with the Rossoneri.

The Nerazzurri are thought to have made the signing of a player to replace stricken Danish midfielder Christian Eriksen a priority, with Calhanoglu a player whose profile is similar to the Dane’s.

The former Bayer Leverkusen man had been linked to multiple European clubs on a free transfer this summer, including Turkish giants Galatasary, but the player’s father confirms that his decision has been made for an Inter move.

The transfer is expected in the coming days as the club look to finalize a deal with the departing Rossoneri player.

Cinar’s tweet reads: “Hakan Çalhanoğlu is not on Galatasaray’s agenda. I spoke with his father, Huseyin Calhanoglu. If nothing goes wrong, he will sign for Inter…”
