Inter are seriously considering moving for AC Milan midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu, according to reports.

Italian news outlet Gazzetta.it are reporting that the Nerazzurri could step up their pursuit of the 27-year-old Turk in the coming days, with negotiations between the player and his current club stalling.

The 27-year-old is said to be demanding a wage increase to around a net of €5 million annually, while the Rossoneri do not wish to go higher than €4 million.

Should Inter’s city rivals not be able to agree a contract renewal with the playmaker whose contract is set to expire at the end of the month, they could move for him.

Calhanoglu is seen as an ideal signing to replace the contributions of Christian Eriksen, with the Dane set to miss all or most of next season as he deals with recovery from health issues.

The player would consider a cross-city move due to the fact that he would not have to move from his current residence or uproot his life the way that a move to club in another city would, with the player in fact already living in the same housing complex which Nerazzurri defender Stefan de Vrij does.
