Inter midfielder Arturo Vidal has reacted to critics who have suggested that he and teammates were responsible for a COVID-19 breach in Chile’s camp during the Copa America in recent days.

In an Instagram story, reported by Italian news outlet FCInterNews, the Chilean claims that the reaction to the alleged incident is something which his critics are exaggerating.

It was reported yesterday that the 34-year-old Inter player was among a group of players who brought in a hairdresser or barber to fix their hair, a violation of the COVID-19 protocols imposed for the tournament by CONMEBOL.

Unconfirmed reports have also claimed that the players involved in the incident brought a prostitute into the team bubble in violation of protocol, and that this was the reason for the controversy.

The scandal is reported to have led to Chilean National Team head coach Martin Lasarte considering resigning from his position.

However, Vidal’s response indicates that the player is defiant and does not consider himself to be guilty of any serious breaches.
