Inter will pay a €1 million bonus on the 2016 signing of midfielder Joao Mario to Sporting CP due to winning the Scudetto last season.
This is according to today’s print edition of Lisbon-based newspaper Record, who report that the Nerazzurri owe the amount as an add-on specified in the deal between the clubs which brought the Portuguese to the Giuseppe Meazza.
Inter signed the midfielder in 2016 off the back of his Euro 2016 triumph with Portugal, paying an initial €40 million to Sporting for his contract, signing him on a five year deal.
In addition, the Nerazzuri payed the Lisbon club another €3 million upon the player making 25 appearances with Inter.
The final add-on included in the deal with Sporting, yet to be triggered prior to last season, was for an additional €1 million should the Nerazzurri win the Scudetto, which the club did last season under Antonio Conte.
Inter are currently looking to offload the Portuguese, with the 28-year-old having spent last season on loan at Sporting and hoping for a permanent stay next season.
However, the Portuguese champions are reluctant to meet Inter’s valuation and the player could end up at another club, with Nice and Villarreal thought to be interested.
