The new deal that Inter defender Andrea Ranocchia has secured could see him stay at the club until 2023, according to a report in the Italian media today.

As has been reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, the defender is well-deserving of the new deal that will likely be officially announced in the coming days. The 33-year-old veteran looked set to leave the club this summer as his contract had come to an end.

The club gave both he and Ashley Young a week to decide of they want to enter talks over a new one-year deal or move on to new challenges elsewhere. The latter decided to leave and he recently got announced as a new Aston Villa player in the Premier League.

Andrea Ranocchia decided to enter talks despite interest from Cagliari, Bologna, and various Turkish Super Lig clubs. The new deal runs until June 2022, but the club have not excluded the idea of adding another year to that.
